My Photographer... My sister took these beautiful pictures for my website. She has always been the photographer in our family (along with my Dad, who sparked her interest). She has also sparked her son’s interest in photography. It is so much fun listening to them talk about their next great shot! She is very good at her craft, and is always willing to oblige her "photographically illiterate" relatives with our photography needs. I thank her for spending a relaxing Sunday afternoon taking these pictures. Yes, she is Krystin's mom! They always say you should never work with children or dogs... Thanks Sis!!! |

How do you like my great wooden head hat model? We call it Olive. Isn't it the neatest?
Well, early one Saturday morning my Dad came over to have coffee with me as we often do (we are the early birds in the family!). As we were talking at the computer (searching Ebay for more things we probably don't really need!) he asked me about the head mannequin that I was looking for to model my hats. I told him I had seen some neat ones on the internet that were a little too expensive for my budding business. He said, we have an olive tree branch over in my backyard, and I have my "new" old lathe (that he just bought through Ebay, of course). Why don't we go make one. So that's what we did. We worked all day on it, and this is what we came up with! It has all kinds of character, and shows off my hats with the stylized charm that I was looking for. I also had a very special day with my Dad that I will never forget. I'm still picking sawdust out of my ears!!!
And yes, we eat home-cured olives every Thanksgiving!
Dad’s interest in woodworking has recently taken a turn in a new direction. He has invented a new, innovative tool that every woodworker should have. Please take a look at www.MiterSet.com.
Thanks, Dad!!! |
